This delightfully expressive panel was exhibited in the William Wilson exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy in 2022. The exhibition catalogue is packed with information about Wilson including photographs of him working on stained glass and the sketchbook study for this panel, which is simply called “War-time Figure Group.”

Interestingly, the lively dog is an addition; it is not present in the study.
