Scottish Stained Glass Symposium at Dunfermline Abbey

Come to Dunfermline Abbey to see a group of very diverse windows in a stunning architectural setting.

Dunfermline has been chosen as the venue for the next Scottish Stained Glass Symposium because there is currently an exhibition of the life of Noel Paton in the Dunfermline Carnegie Library, which is adjacent to the Abbey. Although famous for his paintings, Paton also designed stained glass and his windows were made by Ballantine, whose contribution included drawing the cartoons, some of which are included in the exhibition. Although stained glass enthusiasts will all be familiar with Ballantine’s glass, few will have seen his cartoons.

We plan to visit the exhibition and then on to the Abbey. As always, the Symposium is free. A sandwich lunch, with cake & fruit, is available for £8.

Whatever your interest in stained glass, novice or professional, practitioner or historian, you will be very welcome to join us on Friday 8th November 2024.
