Malcolm Canmore, King of Scots married Margaret (who was to become St Margaret) in Dunfermline and her remains were interred there. Strachan frequently depicted Margaret in blue and white which in church symbolism are usually the colours of Mary, mother of Jesus – white for purity and blue for heaven.
